The Edit Menu

 

Use this menu to work with picture and text selections, or to undo your last action.


Undo

Selecting the Undo command will cancel the effects of the previous action. "Can't Undo" will appear if it is not possible to undo your last action. Use the preference dialog to change the number of actions remembered by Starry Night.


Redo

Re-performs the effect of your last undone action.


Cut

Removes the selected text or picture and temporarily places it in the computer's Clipboard until Paste is selected.


Copy

Copies the selected text or picture and places it on the Clipboard. See the Tool palette chapter for information on making picture selections in Starry Night.


Paste

Inserts copied text or picture (from the Clipboard) into the insertion point.


Clear

Removes the selected text without placing it on the clipboard.


Select All

Selects all text in the active text field.


Find

Opens the Find window, from which you can specify the object you would like found and centered. See the Find section in Finding Objects in the Sky chapter for details.


Find Again

Finds the next item matching the criteria specified when you last used the Find command. See the Find Again section in Finding Objects in the Sky chapter for details.


Goto

Opens the Goto window, where you can input the coordinates (in RA and Dec) of the point in the sky you wish to view. The default numbers represent the point directly behind you. See the Goto section in Finding Objects in the Sky chapter for details.


Get Info

Displays an information window for the selected item (showing its rise and set time for example). See the Get Info section of the Gathering Information chapter for details.


Center Selection

This command centers the currently selected object. (The menu item will be dimmed if no object is selected.)


Lock On Selection

This command allows you to center and lock on the currently selected object. (The menu item will be dimmed if no object is selected.)
